crimsonamaranthine:
Your muse finds mine lying on the floor; bleeding, bruised, with a bullet wound in their side; they’re dying. What does your muse do?

…This was a joke.
This was just a sick joke. A sick… cruel joke. It had to be. No matter how many times Boyan would blink, he was met with the same sight–a bruise and bloodied girl, clinging onto her last breaths. But it wasn’t just any girl, it was the only person he cared about.

“…” Moving closer and closer, he felt his breath growing more shallow with each step. Every part of him hoped, prayed, that this wasn’t at all what he knew in his heart it was. But he knew very well that this would be his last moment with her.
“Xiaoqiao…” He murmured, kneeling down beside her. Staring at the wound in her side, he felt a painful, squeezing feeling within his chest. She was dying. She was dying. He couldn’t do anything, anything, to save her… The most precious thing in his life… it’s being taken away from him.

“No… no, no…” Gently, he lifted the petite girl into his arms, and sat there with her. He knew that it was too late to take her anywhere. She’d already lost too much blood. All he could do for her, is stay by her side. And as he ran his fingers through her hair, he felt tears slipping down his cheeks, and he struggled to contain the need to grieve. He needed to speak, before it was too late.

“X–Xiao, I… I’m so sorry… I couldn’t protect you…” He held her closer, and closed his eyes, his expression filled with sorrow. “There was so much that I wanted to tell you… and do with you… we were supposed to celebrate together… but I… I failed you…”
No… now wasn’t the time to express regrets. Slowly, he lowered his head and gave a gentle kiss atop her head. “…You did so much for me, you know…? Because of you, I… felt happy. You’ve shown me what it’s like to enjoy life… to care… a–and I wanted to say thank you, Xiaoqiao… for being the most important person in my life.”

Dear angel, sleep peacefully–for I will always love you. You will never be forgotten.
